Get to know our Head Sushi Chef
The owner and executive sushi chef, Aaron Deng, was intrigued by the art of crafting sushi when he first watched the acclaimed TV series “Iron Chef” featuring Masaharu Morimoto as a young man. Since that time, he has been inspired by the legendary sushi maker to become a master sushi chef himself. After years of saving and driven by his motivation, he was finally able to make his dreams a reality. Working for various sushi chefs, and carefully learning the art since 2005, he traveled the United States; training and honing his skills in New York, Texas, and Colorado. Aaron makes a trip once every year to Japan for two weeks, always ready to continue learning on how he can further master his techniques.
Aaron worked in sushi restaurants for ten years before deciding to open up his own restaurant. As head sushi chef at Zen, his mission is to create and serve fresh, tasteful and exquisite sushi dishes, marrying classic Japanese sushi with his own creative new style sushi. This unique approach to crafting sushi emphasizes making every piece and roll from the heart. He strives to bring great sushi into American culture, which is seen in many of his dishes; artistically and masterfully.
